Artist Uses Own Blood To Make Sculpture

An artist Marc Quinn uses his own blood to make a bloody human head sculpture “Self”. In fact, this creepy sculpture is Marc Quinn’s own head that made out of 4.5 liters of his own frozen blood.


The blood is taken from this own body over a period of five months. The work is then repeated every five years to establish a unique record of the artist aging.


If I’m not mistaken, this creepy art piece was sold. I’m wondering who bought this bloody human head; it looks like a head of a man that just chopped off. Emm, if he has so much blood, why don’t he donates to people who need it?

    i think this is amazing. infact i think its brilliant. I find nothing "creepy" about it. It's blood. It's inside of all of us. He used it as a media in art and made money off of it. He's a genius.

    Yes, it's amazing and there are many people who really love this "extraordinary" art piece. I can accept it from photo but if you want me to display at home, I think it's weird after all it's somebody's blood…
