Chinese Hunters Captured Oriental Yeti
Apr 8
A bizarre creature was trapped by hunters in Sichuan, China. They thought it’s a hairless bear but it has a tail like a kangaroo. The mystery creature, dubbed the “Oriental Yeti,” has been sent to scientists in Beijing for DNA testing.

According to one of the hunters, “It looks a bit like a bear but it doesn’t have any fur and it has a tail like a kangaroo. It also does not sound like a bear; it has a voice more like a cat and it is calling all the time, perhaps it is looking for the rest of its kind or maybe it’s the last one?”

Just sad to see they keep it caged like this!

You really think the Chinese will eat this? That’s a very offensive comment and I find it to be stereotyping the Chinese as a crude culture that devours any animal. Yes, the Chinese are known to eat animals that we don’t eat in the U.S., including dogs, but they aren’t some kind of indiscriminate society where they eat just anything off the street. Cases like people eating dog, which is what I’m sure you’re referring to when you wonder if the Chinese will eat this creature, are usually cases of extreme poverty. I do feel sorry for the creature, but even you said that it’s being sent to scientists to be studied, not eaten. I doubt that once they determine what it is they’re going to just throw it on the grill and eat it. Besides, it looks diseased, it’s probably just a severely diseased cross-breed animal.
its Verry wierd
it’s most probably a walibi. It coul be that it’s been shipped to china to be kept as a pet, and someone got tired of it. that it’s bald is probably caused by a (skin)disease.
It is obviously what we in North America call a Chupacabre – some sort of giant rat that eats carrion.
and um damn sure Chinese will eat it … :P
This is so sad. Why must people catch and imprison animals? They should at least provide some comfortable and spacious living quarters and not that wire cage.
It looks like a viverridae with a bad case of mange.
