Island of The Dolls, A Creepy Place in Mexico
Nov 27
One of the world’s strangest tourist spots the Island of the Dolls in Mexico (“La Isla de la Munecas” in Spanish) is located in the heart of the Xochimico’s canals. It’s a place has no electricity, no running water or any other kind of utilities.
Thousands of plastic dolls are mounted on almost every tree in the island. All of the dolls are broken and make them look so creepy.
The story of the Island of the Dolls begins with a hermit by the name Don Julian Santana who lived on the island in 1950′s. Shortly after he arrived the island he believed it to be haunted by a young girl who drowned at the island. Whenever Julian spotted a doll floating by, he collected and hung it on a tree. And very soon the whole island turned into a Dolls Island.
Julian drowned at the island on April 17th, 2001.
Those dolls remind me of the creepy doll “Chucky”; looks like these dolls have bad spirits and they can move and talk when nobody’s around…
