PainStation: No Pain, No Game
Feb 4

PainStation is an arcade game that allows you to inflict real pain, shock, burn and lash on your opponent. It was created by two German designers Volker Morawe and Tilman Reiff in 2001. The PainStation is just a classic video game, Pong; when you win you don’t get any award but when you lose you will receive punishment, that’s pain and wound on your hand.

The concept is simple: two players eyeball each other over a table console. The player’s right hand controls the bat, and the object of the game is to keep the ball in play as long as possible and his left-hand is positioned on a sensor field PEU “Pain Execution Unit,” which serves as a sensor and feedback instrument. If the player missed the ball, he will feel different types of pain like feel heat, punches or electroshocks of varying duration depending where the ball hits. The game ends when one of the players decides that he had enough pain.
Obviously, this is designed for crazy people who don’t love themselves and want to hurt others “legally”. Pretty cool idea but it’s a stupid videogame in the eyes of smart people but I love its slogan “No Pain, No Game”, it’s true.
