The 20-year-old beauty queen Pilar Carmelita Arlando, who was the 2nd runner-up of Miss Singapore World 2009, was chosen as new winner to represent Singapore to compete the Miss World title at South Africa on end of this year.

Pilar Arlando was selected as Miss Singapore World to replace the previous winner Ris Low, who gave up Miss Singapore World 2009 title last month after news of her being under 24 months’ probation for credit card fraud was reported.

She is a student of Travel, Tourism and Hospitality at Management Development Institute of Singapore; she has Chinese, Indian, Portuguese and Dutch ancestry.

The new Miss Singapore World said: “I’m sure that they saw my capabilities as a main title-holder, so I believe I don’t see rglish but it does not affect me because I’m confident in the words that I say and how I speak.”

According to the organizer ERM World Marketing, the contest rules do not require the first runner-up to be the replacement. However, the fist runner-up Claire Lee was not chosen due to her chronic back problem; she could not stand for long hours.

I personally feel that Pilar Arlando is prettier than Ris Low and Claire Lee, what do you think?
